Pam Gil,  Dance Team Coordinator & Assistant Business Manager

    Pam Gil has been Cynergy's Dance Team Coordinator since 2008. She's a proud mom of a Cynergy Dance
    student. She communicates important information to dance team parents and ensures that our dance teams have
    everything they need for their performances. Pam has also assumed duties as Cynergy's Assistant Business
    Manager and is quite welcoming to all who come into the dance studio for the first time. Cynergy Dance is very
    pleased to have Pam on staff and appreciates her hard work and dedication to the students, parents and business
    office.

Lucy Hart, Folklorico Instructor

Lucy "Morena" Hart began dancing at 7 years old. She danced in a private group for 6 years. At the age of 13, she
was a member of ''Casa De La Juventud'' dance group (CODE) for 2 years. At the age of 15, she began dancing at
''La Universidad De Guadalajara'' and graduated from ''Escuela de Artes Plasticas'' where she ''Mexicaly Dance
Co.'' She also had her own folklorico dance group known as Grupo Folklorico de Lucy Camacho.  

Lucy began teaching at Cynergy Dance during the summer of 2009 where she began working with beginner
folklorico students. Her competitive dance group, "Las Palomitas", earned numerous awards at their 2010 Dance
Competitions. Awards earned include a Platinum Award from the Showstopper National Dance Competition and
received a special judges award titled, "Did Not Skip A Beat". Her competitive team also received a High Gold
Award at the Starbound National Talent Competition. In addition, the competitive group also earned the following
Special Judges award for Duets performed: High Score Award for the Junior Petit Duet Division and "Excellent
Precision & Timing". 2011 Folklorico Dance Troupes earned Platinum awards at both Showstopper and Starbound
Competitions and high honors with the Highest Score Award. In  2012, the Folklorico Dance Troupes earned a
Double Platinum Award and  Platinum Award and were invited to the Showstopper National's Competition where
they received a Platinum Award for their performance of Technica in the Advanced Category and received a 3rd
Place Overall for ages 8 and under.

Cynthia Grimaldo-Plumas, Owner & Program Director

Cynthia founded Cynergy Dance Company in July 2003. She has over 30 years of dance experience and has been
teaching all levels of dance for over 20 years. She is a 1993 graduate of Texas State University. She received a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and is a former member of the Texas State Strutter Drill Team.  
Cynthia began dancing at age 5 with the Lois Jones School of Dance where she disciplined in ballet, tap, jazz and
twirling. She led her high school dance and drill team and continued to teach various individuals and small groups
special event choreography which inspired her to open her own dance studio. Over her ten  year career with Cynergy
Dance Company, Cynthia has enjoyed inspiring and teaching her students all levels of dance as well as reaching out
to the community as a volunteer. She has been a proud supporter of the  San  Antonio United Way Program, The
Epilepsy Foundation, Susan G. Comen Race For The Cure, San Antonio
Girl Scouts, The American Cancer Society and The American Lung Association.

Cynthia is a member of the San Antonio Dance Umbrella, The National Dance Association, The American Alliance for
Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and was inducted as a member of Strathmore's Who’s Who
Worldwide. She has also been selected as a judge for the Miss San Antonio Teen Pageants, the San Antonio Jam Fest
Dance Competition and Talent Explosion Dance Competition. She was also a pageant coach and mentor to a former
winner of the Miss San Antonio Fiesta Pageant and selected as a judge for the 2013 Quinceanera Magazine Cover Girl
Contest.  

She currently teaches Pre-Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Salsa and Cardio Dance at Cynergy and is a dance instructor for the
San Antonio NEISD Community Education Department and is the Lead Director of the Cynergy Minnie's Performance
Dance Team. She truly enjoys every moment spent working with her staff of dance professionals and students. She
takes much pride in seeing her students progress each season while attaining their dance goals.

Ayla Akers, Belly Dance Instructor

Ayla Akers began studying dance at the age of three and since then has studied numerous disciplines of dance
including the contemporary forms of the United States, latin styles, native folk dances of various countries, and
finally found her passion in belly dance. She shares this passion by performing at private parties, restaurants, and
fundraising and community events. In her classes, Ayla aims to hone and refine students’ technique, build and
strengthen the muscles essential to proper form and execution, and develop grace and charisma for charming
performances.  She continues to improve her own knowledge and skill in dance through attending drills and
technique workshops and studying the styles of other artists. Ayla is available for performances and private and
group lessons. Ayla has been with Cynergy Dance since 2008.
Rebecca Leising, Dance Instructor

Rebecca has been teaching at Cynergy Dance since 2012. She is currently a professional dancer with the San
Antonio Talons Football Organization and is also a former San Antonio Spurs Dancer. She has five years of teaching
experience and enjoys working with children. Rebecca led many of the Cynergy Dance hip hop and jazz classes over
the past year.
Kim Olivarez, Dance Team Director
Kimberly Olivarez, is a 2011 graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management.  
She has over 13 years of dance and teaching experience. She teaches jazz, hip-hop, ballet, leap and turns, and has
been Cynergy's Competitive Dance Team Director since 2006. She is a former dance team member at Churchill
High School and is also a former member of the  San Antonio Spurs Dance Team during the 2004-2007 seasons.
She was selected nation wide to represent the San Antonio Spurs for the first ever 2007 NBA All-Star Dance Team  
in Las Vegas.

Kimberly has danced with Will Smith, Bryan Adams, Laurie Ann Gibson, Frankie J., Paula Dianda, Clay Walker, and
alongside Christina Aguilera. Overall, her teams have received numerous special awards in recent dance
competitions attended. In 2012 alone, Kim choreographed 5 group dances, 8 solos and 1 duet dance.   

In addition to teaching at Cynergy Dance, Kimberly was also a Television Show host for Zonido for 3 consecutive
years, a Latin Music and Video Show, which aired on KSAT-12. She also is a free-lance worker for KSAT12 News,
commercials and on-air talent. Kim is continuing her education and will be completing her teaching certification in
2013.
Sharon Detweiler recently relocated to San Antonio after living in the Midwest, New York, and overseas. She spent a
year in England taking an intensive teacher training course at the Royal Academy of Dance and dancing at
Danceworks of London as well as two years in South Bend, Indiana, teaching for some of the best schools in the
nation. Sharon is a Dance Masters of America certified teacher and a post-graduate of their Teacher Training School
at the University at Buffalo. She is a member of The Cecchetti Council of America, American Fitness Professionals
and Associates, and Dance Masters of America, where she served on the board of Chapter 8, Western New York.
Sharon has extensive training in both the Body Control and classical methods of Pilates and is a certified mat work
instructor. She has taken teacher training courses with David Howard at Steps on Broadway, Judy Rice at the
University at Buffalo, Finis Jhung at the Alvin Ailey School, and an intensive 200 hour Cecchetti training program with
master educator Lisa Taylor.  Sharon continues her teacher training under Marcia Holliman as well as with courses
through the Cecchetti Council of America.

Sharon has been teaching for the past 19 years and during this time has had the opportunity to lecture and instruct at
numerous colleges, high schools, conservatories, companies and studios throughout New York, Conservatory of
Dance, under the direction of Ballet Chicago alumnus Lydia Aurinko-Mostow, Southold Dance Theatre under the
direction of American Ballet Theatre alumnus Erika Fischbach, Citadel Dance Center under the direction of Paul
Taylor alumnus Eileen Cropley as well as The University of Notre Dame and Indiana University South Bend. She is
also a master teacher for the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts and a judge for dance competitions.
Sharon served as the Director of Ballet at Dance 22 for nine years, training all levels of dancers, several who are now
dancing professionally in companies, at theme parks and on television. She currently is the Ballet Director for Cynergy
Dance Company in San Antonio where she loves sharing her passion for dance with her students.
Sandy R. Vargas, Dance Instructor

Sandy R. Vargas is a member of the Rejoice Dance Ministry, a Praise and Worship Dance Ministry, under the
headship of Minister Eagle Renate McWright of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio Texas.  Sandy has been
ministering in dance with Rejoice since 2004 and currently is an Assistant Lead to the team.  As a member of
Rejoice, Sandy has enjoyed participating in outreaches throughout San Antonio in church dedications, celebrations
and the MLK  March in 2011.  The team has also been  invited to various conferences in the US to minister in dance
as well as learn from those leading what it means to be a Worshipper for the Lord.  Additionally, the team has been
invited internationally to minister in dance, Lagos, Nigeria in 2009 and again in 2013 at the Holy Ghost Congress
under the leadership of The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch
Adeboye with attendance ranging from 3 to 4 million attendants, Oaxaca, Mexico for a Night to Honor Israel with
Pastor Ruben of Igleisa Cornerstone 2013, and Cape Town by Apostles Neil and Philider Oortman in 2011 and
2012.
Sandy has completed an intense and in depth training course with the Eagles International Training Institute (EITI)
on the Biblical Foundations of Dance and Dance Technique and received her License as a Minister of Dance in
October 2012 under Set Free Ministries founded and directed by Dr. Pamela Hardy.  Sandy has been Assisting and
Teaching with The Eagles Network (TEN) a Network under EITI that also provides Biblical and Dance Technique
training for Christian Dance Ministers.  Sandy has also studied under Prophet James Hernandez to get an
understanding of the prophetic ministry and has incorporated this teaching into her dance movement as Prophetic
Dance and has had opportunities to teach on the subject.  Sandy also, does monthly dance technique teachings to
Christian Dancers who desire to focus on increasing their skill through her community outreach “Dance With Me” at
El Salvador Church.
Sandy has been taking classes with Cynergy Dance Studio since July 2010 and started teaching in 2013.  Being a
part of Cynergy both as a Student and Instructor has been so rewarding for me because I get to partake and spend
more time with the thing I love – Dance!  The platform that has allowed me to express my love joy peace and
excitement for the Lord!  The instructors here are an amazing set of skill, talent and simply great individuals.  I would
not be the person I am today in technique had it not been for them!  I am so blessed to be here and to have my
Ministry Vocabulary grow because of Them, Cynthia and Cynergy!!!  My blessings to them ALL!!!!
